Great Scott Adams quote

Scott Adams once said, "creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.  Art is knowing which ones to keep."  According to Sawyer,  the most creative individuals have many ideas and have to sort through their ideas to decide with ones are good and which are bad.  Once an idea is determined as bad, it is thrown out.  This process of throwing out the bad ideas and keeping the good ones help determine how creative one is.  Creative individuals have to be willing to admit an idea is bad and move forward to other, better ideas.

Tina Turner Quote on Creativity

Tina Turner once said, "Sometimes you've got to let everything go; purge yourself.  If you are unhappy with anything . . . whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it.  Because you'll find that when you're free, your true creativity, your true self comes out."  I think that Tina hit the nail on the head and I believe Sawyer would agree.  When I first read this quote, "flow" came to mind.  In order for one to achieve flow, he or she has to have a clear mind.  Take me for example;  it is nearly impossible for me to hit a 95 mph fastball if all I can think about is whether if I am going to pass comps or not as I'm stepping into the batter's box .  However,  if I step into the box and with the "I don't care what this son of a biscuit eater throws, I'm going to square the ball up" kind of mindset, I am more likely to achieve the "flow" state of mind and be more successful.

Introduction

Hi my name is Trey Rountree.  I am a senior at Millsaps College majoring in Business Administration.  I have created this blog as an experiment for a creativity class I am currently enrolled in.  I am not an avid blogger; however, I am familiar with how blogs work.  I created a blog similar to this one for my intro to thinking and writing class with Mrs. Anita DeRouen.  I find that blogs can be very educational, as well as entertaining to see what my fellow classmates blog about.  I am looking forward to what my blogger will have in store for me and how "creative" I can truly get.
